Professional photos are special. We only get them taken professionally every so often so we want them to be perfect. The most common questions I'm asked are; "What should we wear?", and 'Where should we have our photos taken?'
This article will help answer those question.
Consider Your Home Decor:
Often times you may want to hang a canvas in your living room or put a special photo on display on your end tables. Some believe it is important to correspond your photo attire with your living area color palette. For example, if your living room palette uses colors primarily like gray, black, white and yellow, going with a color scheme of blue and browns may clash with the decor.
Pick 3 or 4 Base Colors:
Picking a set of three or four base colors make for a put-together color scheme.
You can easily go on Pinterest and search for color palettes for more inspiration.

I really loved how this family picked brown, cream and denim. They spread the colors out nicely. As you can see, much of the family is wearing different shades of brown and cream on top. Most of them are wearing jeans as bottoms except for the older daughter, she is balancing the denim on top.
Use Bold Patterns Sparingly:
Mixing patterns can make the photo look busy. Corresponding stripes or similar colored plaids can work well together when paired with a solid, neutral color.
Consider Your Background and Setting:
You don't want to blend in with your background. If your photo session is in the woods during the spring or summer, consider wearing a color pallets aside from green or brown.
Layer Up:
Fall and winter photo sessions make for awesome scenery. Fall mornings and afternoons in New England are often chilly and unpredictable. Layering with sweaters, jackets and vests make outfits so versatile. 'Oh the sun came out and it got five degrees warmer in the last two minutes?' Just unzip that vest and you have a whole new look.
Consider Accessories:
Accessories are an awesome way to add color or make a statement. Add them, remove them, switch them up.
Be Comfortable:
Comfortable shoes are important. We may we be walking to get to our destination. Not only that, but you won't be your happiest self with an itchy sweater driving you crazy, or adjusting that super ADORABLE skirt you just HAD to wear despite it just being a tiny bit too short you want your most confident, radiant selves out there. Be physically comfortable and flatter your best features.
